Geocaching

I live in a very small town so when it comes to entertainment, we don't have many options. Growing up we had to be very creative to find something to do. We spent many summer days swimming in my grandmothers pond, playing truth or dare, making forts in the woods, riding our bikes to sonic, and circling my neighborhood in our golf cart.

So this weekend when we didn't have much to do, we decided we would go geocaching. Geocaching is when people place random 'treasures' at different locations, and other people get the GPS coordinates and try to find them. There are thousands around the United States, you would probably be surprised how many there are in your area.

Our first JAUNT was Saturday night, which turned out to be a really bad idea. It was dark so there were lots of bugs and critters out, but we did end up finding one! Inside the little container we found was a log of all the different people that had found this certain geocache. It was interesting because someone else had found that geocache the same day we did.

Our first cache was at the largest pine tree in Arkansas. Who knew it would be in our small little town.

We went back today because it was so dark last night.

We also went to another cache called The Higher Tower. It was quite the adventure. We had to climb a barbed wire fence.

This is the Higher Tower in day light. We revisited this one today.

The Ashley County Museum is also the home to a geocache.

Needless to say our boring weekend ended up really fun. I'm so glad I always had to search for things to do when I was little, I think it made me a more adventuresome person.

Finally A Blog

I have been reading blogs for a while now. I spend a lot of time reading blogs about cute little families, weddings, crafts, and babies when I should be getting more important things done. So now that out I am out of school for the summer I figured I could start my own blog. I have been trying to talk myself into this for a long time. Being off a college most of the time, I would love for my family to be able to read about my little JAUNTS! Although writing is not my biggest talent, I decided to finally give it a shot. So for all you english teachers out there, please dismiss my grammatical errors. Now I get to check one thing off of my summer to do list!
By the way I really don't like posts without pictures so I will try not to do it much. Thanks for reading!
