Upside Down

I walked into my apartment today after class and this is what I saw!

Every piece of furniture is our living room was turned upside down! I just had to laugh out loud!

They even turned the paper towel holder, the basket and the remote upside down.

I think these boys are the culprits.. IMAGINE THAT!

All I have to say is payback is BAD NEWS BOYS!

Over and Out for the Weekend!

I spent this week studying for a GINORMOUS test that was scheduled for today.

Symptoms from studying too much:
  • A twitching eye {stress or from possibly consuming to many energy shots}
  • Hurting back {from sitting at the computer too long}
  • Random outbursts of laughter {we were going crazy looking at the same thing over and over}
Upon entering the class room today to conquer and destroy this GINORMOUS test, we were told the test was cancelled. boooo :(

Well that means I will enjoy my cup of coffee that I skipped this morning in order to get some last minutes studies in, pack my bags, and head HOME for the weekend.

Spider Lilies

Spider lilies just make me happy when I see them. They remind me of days at my Nini's when I was little. Every year around this time they would bloom on a little hill in her yard. She would take us over to see them and we would play and play with them.

We turned them upside down and made them "crawl" around like spiders.

I called my Nini the other day to tell her that I had been seeing some spider lilies around. To my surprise she said "You know me and Joel planted those when he was little."

Joel is my cousin that passed away last December in a tragic accident.

Every time I see those flowers I get a special feeling and lots of memories of Nini's house come swarming to my mind. What I didn't know is that they are way more special than I ever thought. Although we may not have Joel here with us any more, we still have this beautiful flower he planted that graces us with its presence every year around this time.

Free Fallin'

It was a gorgeous day outside today so me and my little brother decided to go on a scooter ride!
We just drove down the rode and sang "Free Fallin' " as loud as we could. Fun moments!

Tubbs' Tailgate 2010

No, I didn't forget about you! Woah.. it has just been a while since I have posted! Although the blog life has been halted for a while, real life has been moving right along. Numerous people have recently told me they read my blog {and they say they enjoy it, but they might be telling me a story ;) } so I'll have to catch you all up.

And if you're wondering I tried to add some new features to my blog and ended up losing my whole template :( So for now I'm in the process of making it pretty again. I still have my gift certificate to LeeLou so hopefully I can be back to a precious blog in no time.

Last weekend was the first Razorback game (in the Rock) of the season. Razorback games at the Rock have become one of my family's favorite traditions during football season. GO HOGS!

Mom and dad are quite the tailgate hosts. We have had the same tailgating spot for a while now, and it is becoming well known. Lots of people stop by to have a little visit or grab a bite to eat.

We are such big fans that we get to our tailgating spot early in the morning and we don't leave until way after the game is over.

Lot of people don't even buy tickets to the game, they just come out to the golf course for the tailgating. There are TVs set up every where so people can enjoy all the football games of the day.

I made me and my mom one of these precious aprons for the weekend. Somehow I didn't get a picture of us with our aprons on :( Here is a picture I stole from my friend Chelsea's blog.

{I have been sewing lots of things lately. It seems like we have a little sweatshop going here in our apartment. It's full of wonderful ideas and creations. I'll have to do better at getting pictures.}

You can't end a Razorback weekend without calling those hogs!

Happy Thursday... which means it's almost Friday!!

Progress

If you remember a while back in this post, I mention my friend Josh. He is in Sydney, Australia attending the Hillsong College.

This is what we have been getting to see of him lately. Skype is a wonderful thing. We even got to meet some of his friends over there via skype. Every time I talk to them they say it is nice to hear someone with a southern accent. ha

Josh comes up in multiple conversation we have everyday. For instance we rode go-carts the other night for my friend's birthday and multiple times this was said "Josh would love this! They even have Icees here!"

Josh is a mischievous little dude! In my apartment there are these emergency buttons in every room. We just know that Josh is going to find a way to push the buttons from across the world! It's just something he would do.

Notice it says "If you press this button in a non-emergency, you could be fined $250!" They mean business.

Yea, it is a little dirty looking. I'm sure it has been taped up several times in the past to keep people from pressing it. The one is my room has a bottle cap taped over the button. I still have this feeling that Josh will find a way to push it.

I know that he gets down sometimes being so far away. And I'm sure he gets homesick too. That is a huge adjustment. I mean they even have to drive on the other side of the rode over there!!

So please keep Josh in your prayers. Even if you don't know him I'm sure he would love to have as many prayers as he can get. Pray that he realizes the progress he has made and celebrates it instead of thinking about how much longer he is to be there.

Josh we miss you a lot over here buddy! But we are proud of what you are doing and we are sending lots of prayers your way!

P.S. Let's have a little celebration because as of today I have 20 followers!! That seems like a whole lot to me because I started out at 0. If you want to follow me it is really easy, just push the button on my side-bar that says follow. I do a little dance every time I get a new one!

The War Is On

We have done our research and have come up with what we hope will be a solution to our pest problem.

After asking everyone we knew, turning in work orders for the bug man, and searching the internet we decided to try three different things.

Bug Spray
Molasses
Boric Acid

The crickets are supposed to be attracted to molasses and jump into it.

You may think we have overdone ourselves, but if you were here you would understand.

So far the boric acid works best. You can get it at any drug store. The acid stops the bugs dead in there tracks.

It has almost become a game to us. In the beginning we were counting how many bugs we killed. There has been so many that now we have lost count.

We are praying the bug man comes soon to finish them off.

Our God

Water You turned into wine
Open the eyes of the blind
There’s no one like You
None like You
Into the darkness You shine
Out of the ashes we rise
There’s no one like You
None like You

Our God is GREATER, our God is STRONGER
God You are HIGHER than any other
Our God is HEALER, AWESOME in power
Our God, Our God…

God You are HIGHER than any other
Our God is HEALER, AWESOME in power

And if Our God is for us, then who could ever stop us
And if our God is with us, then what can stand against?

Invasion

We the residents of Commons number *** have a problem on our hands. {No I can't tell you our room number silly!}

Crickets have invaded our apartment.

I even caught myself thinking that I would rather have rollie pollies, or grasshoppers, or ants (anything other than crickets) invade. At least those little pests wouldn't wake me up in the middle of the night or disturb my peaceful mornings!

Crickets are so LOUD!

They are smart little creatures too. And these buggers have found the tiniest cracks to call there home. Therefore, we have no way of killing them! I am not an aggressive person. Admittedly, I would love for them to just find the doorway and go back to where they came from. I know that won't happen so action must be taken.

Any suggestions?

Quality Over Quantity

The first day of classes for my senior year of college is officially over.

I'm all moved into my apartment.
The parking tag has been purchased.
A heap of books are ordered and on their way to me.
The pantry is stocked {for now}.
The walls are decorated {for the most part}.
Homework now waits patiently for me on my desk.

As you can tell, I have been quite busy these past few days.

Sunday night before I left for school my family had a little meeting. The goal of the meeting was to declare our aspirations for this new school year. We are all determined that this year will be lots better than last year.

If you know me personally, you know that I over analyze everything {maybe a good characteristic for an engineer, but not good for everyday life}. Over analyzing then turns in to worrying and stressing about everything. Reading the book "Eat the Cookie, Buy the Shoes" has really been helping me with this lately. So to help combat this problem I have decided that my motto for this semester is "Quality over Quantity".

For example:
When the weekend gets here and I travel to see my family and friends or they travel to see me, I often worry and stress because I only have two days to spend with them. Two days to catch up on everything, two days to see everyone, ..ect. Stressing and worrying about the amount of time I have only makes me in a bad mood. Then I don't enjoy myself.
Solution:
Well with my new motto in place, now I will make sure that the time I spend with them is good quality time. I now realize that there is nothing I can do about the amount of time I have so I mine as well make the most out of what I do have.

Another example:
My friends/roomates/partners-in-crime are only here for one more semester. I fret over not having them next semester and being lonely.. I fret over this being most likely the last time we will ever live in the same place.. I fret over us not getting to have these long venting sessions.. ect. Which in turn makes me depressed and sad.
Solution:
I am going to enjoy this semester to the fullest {make it quality time}. Celebrate and enjoy them while I have them here.

You get the point right? "Quality over Quantity" can go for anything including classes/studying.

Hopefully my new motto will help me get the most out of this year.

I'll leave ya with a picture of me and my friends at our 3+ hour long coffee date. We had a lot of catching up to do!

Photobucket

What is your motto or inspiration for this year? I would love for you to share!

I'm Gonna Miss This

I'm spending my days trying to soak up every ounce of family time I can. Four days left.. Four days until I leave to head back to friends and fun and classes. I'm ready to go back and see everyone...

Just not ready to leave this. Family.... Comfort.. Home
